If you think you might have a hearing loss, it can be overwhelming to know what to do next. As a locally owned and operated business, our commitment is to provide a welcoming environment where you feel comfortable and understood. The first and most important step is to schedule an appointment with an audiologist. Here is a roadmap of what you can expect on your journey to better hearing.
The Hearing Assessment
During your appointment, your audiologist will ask questions about your symptoms and lifestyle to understand your unique hearing needs. They'll also perform a comprehensive hearing assessment, which includes:
Looking in your ear canals to ensure they are clear.
Assessing the middle ear by measuring the movement of your eardrum.
Performing audiometry where you'll respond to beeps and repeat a variety of words. This helps determine if you have a hearing loss and its specific type and degree.
Finding a Solution
After the assessment, your audiologist will explain your results and make recommendations. If hearing aids are a good option for you, the next step is a Hearing Aid Evaluation. As a proudly independent clinic, our recommendations are completely unbiased. During this evaluation, you and your audiologist will discuss different styles, technology levels, features, and costs. Together, you'll choose the best hearing aid for your lifestyle and budget.
The Fitting & Follow-Up
Once your hearing aids are ready, you will return for a Hearing Aid Fitting. Your audiologist will program the hearing aids specifically for you and show you how to use and care for them.
A few weeks later, you'll have a Follow-Up Appointment. This is your chance to discuss your experience and get answers to any questions you may have. Your audiologist will fine-tune the programming to ensure you are comfortable and happy with your new hearing.
Staying on Track
Your audiologist will recommend Yearly Evaluations to check your hearing, clean your hearing aids, and make any necessary adjustments. This ensures you continue to get the most out of your hearing aids for years to come.
